Time Flies

Almost a whole week has gone by and I haven't updated my blog and still have neglected to write about my trip. Time just got away from me last week, but this week should be better and it is on my to-do list.

Last week we took care of our "present" that was left for us in our back yard. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as I thought and we got some help so the process was done in no time. We just have to fix the fence a little.

I am currently only taking one class this semester. I feel like I am on vacation because I am use to taking 2 or 3. This class hasn't been bad, but the majority of the work is still ahead of me and I need to buckle down and get started.

We had a good weekend this weekend. Friday afternoon one of my good friends called and my husband and I ended up going out to eat and run around with her and her husband that evening. Good conversation and lots of laughs. We always have a good time together.

On Saturday I worked 6 hours of overtime and then did some errands with Jeff. I went to Hobby Lobby because we just got one in our town. And man I think everyone else decided to go at the exact time! It was packed! I feel that they have good prices and everything I bought was at least 40% off and some was 50%. I have been in the process of decorating for fall so I wanted some flowers to make a fall arrangement and a few other things to finish off a centerpiece for my dinning room table. We also went to the mall and Jeff got an iPhone. His contract just ended and he has been dying for one. I think I am going to upgrade when my contract ends in December. Until then maybe he will share a little:)

After we got home on Saturday we both ended up falling asleep pretty early and waking up only long enough to eat something quick and both went back to sleep. I feel so much better today. I think I just needed the sleep.

Today we woke up and did some cleaning and went to have lunch at one of my favorites, Cracker Barrel. After a few more errands we came home and did some more fall decorating and cleaning and then some relaxation. One of my errands was to Kmart. I have been on a spree to see how much I can save. Well this week they are doubling coupons up to $2. I was able to stock up on some cleaning supplies along with some other things and saved around 50%. I love great deals! It has been a good weekend but it went my so quick. I can't believe it is almost October. Where did September go?

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I'm Back!

After a week cruising the Caribbean...the husband and I are home. It was such a great week with breath-taking sights, awesome food and some great entertainment. All in all we wish we could have stayed on the ship and were sad to leave but sleeping in my own bed last night sure did feel nice. Over the next week or so I will be posting about our trip and some of the pictures we took

When we got home last night and our neighbor told us we had a surprise in our back yard. After a little investigating we found that our neighbor's HUGE oak tree decided to loose a branch in our yard!

Huge Tree

Big Mess

So I guess this was our welcome home! Fun!

It's Friday! Friday has been a word I have come to love, but, I love this Friday even more because come Monday I know I don't have to go back to work! The husband and I are leaving for vacation this weekend! But before we go there is a lot of work to do and I tend to get overwhelmed thinking about it. Does anyone else struggle with this? Like the house has to be completely clean....there is nothing good about coming home to a dirty house. Then there are the packing decisions. I miss the 2 luggage-per-person days! How am I suppose to fit all my clothes, shoes and other necessities in a suitcase that can not be one once over 50 pounds?? Now normally this would not be too much of a problem, but on a cruise you have day wear, dinner wear and then of course I want some comfy stuff. And then with the different outfits come different shoes. And there is no iron so I also have to shove all of this stuff in a suitcase without it looking like it came out of my dirty clothes hamper. I guess I am going to have to try the rolling method. I hear it works...we shall see!

But I am looking forward to good food, fun adventures and of course some relaxation. I have a few books picked out that I have been wanting to read so I am looking forward to making some time for that.

One of the things we hope to do is to ride segways. Now if you don't know what that is-remember the movie Mall Cop (great movie by the way)? It is the motorized thing he uses.

There is a tour that you can do that goes off road with them! Sounds like a great way to see the island! And I am sure it makes for some great pictures of us attempting to maneuver with them!

Well I better get back to all that work I have to do!

Weekend Review

How I wish every weekend were a 3 day one! This has been a really good weekend and it was nice that when Sunday night came I knew I had an extra day left!

We did fun things and spent time when friends. But we also worked off of the list a little. We went to the grocery store, hung blinds, cleaned the garage, put up one ceiling fan and did a ton of laundry.

And another positive thing is that Marshall had their first win this weekend! They didn't play too well but a win is a win!

This week is exciting because I have 4 more days of work and then the Mr. and I are on vacation. We are taking a Caribbean cruise! I have been on a few cruises but the husband has never been on one. He is necessary the most adventurous person but I think we will have a good time and introduce him to some new things.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, hopefully I will have some soon!

I hope everyone has a good week!

It's Friday!

It's Friday which is great, but it is also the beginning of a long weekend so that is even better! This weekend we will be staying home but still have a jammed packed weekend. Some fun and some work. The first football game for Marshall is this Saturday-Go Herd! We are also attending a bonfire and weenie roast on Sunday with some friends of ours. And I am having some friends over to celebrate Labor's Day on Monday.

Even though we have a bunch of fun things planned we also need to do some work around the house. With it being a long weekend I hope to get some of the things we haven't got to done. My list includes:
  • Hanging new blinds in 2 bedrooms
  • Changing hinges and knobs on the rest of our kitchen cabinets
  • Power washing the house
  • Mow the yard
  • Finish all laundry
  • Put fresh sheets on the spare bed
  • Whip down all baseboards in the house
  • Work on changing hinges and door knobs on some of our hallway doors

So we should be busy this weekend. We have a mid entry level house and I have been wanting to paint the cinder blocks on the sides and back of the house. It is currently a brown-redish color and I don't like it. However, my husband has shot down that project for the weekend. Hopefully that can be a "in the near future" project!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Year Old Cake

Weddings have many traditions. You know the bride has something new, old, borrowed and blue. Then you have the first dance between bride and groom while everyone stares, the cutting/smashing of the wedding cake and the toasts where you try to do the weird intertwined arm thing while the photographer gets the "must take" photos. So all of this happens on the day of the wedding, but there is also the lovely tradition of freezing the top layer of the wedding cake to eat on your 1st year anniversary. So like many newlyweds, ours also got wrapped, frozen and stored for the year period. Due to the cake being at my parent's house we were unable to cut into our year old frozen cake until about a week after our anniversary. So unthaw and unwrap we did. And there laid the top layer of our cake, but slightly squashed, like I remembered from our wedding day. So we cut into it excited to relive our wedding day experience. After a bite it was quickly decided that our year old cake would have its ending in our trash can. Needless to say that I don't think I will be freezing cake for a long period of time anytime soon. It wasn't horrible but it was pretty dry and you needed a drink to wash down each bite.

Here is a picture of our cake from our wedding:
