Where has the week gone?

Sorry I have been MIA this week!  Between a crazy work week and the stress of school I haven't had chance to blog.  I honestly think school is going to be the end of me.  My last class is on May 6th and I don't know if I can make it till then!  I have 2 midterms next week.  One of them is going to be a killer.

On top of school my house is disorganized which makes me stress!  I just can't stand dirty dishes or unfolded clothes or the laundry basket overflowing.  And considering I have only been home (not including the hours I have been asleep) very little this week all the above describe the current state of my house!  With my school schedule this semester we (my husband works last on the days I go to school) don't get home till 9:30pm two days of the week and the other days we go to the gym so we never get home before 7:30pm.  My DVR is exploding with taped shows!

And work is a whole other story.  It has just been one stressful week all around!  I have had some bad headaches this week.  Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

This weekend we are probably going to my in-laws.  We haven't been there since Christmas and my husband wants to go rabbit hunting with his dad.  I was thinking of staying behind because of all of my work I have to do, but I think I may go and just take everything there.  My MIL is a great cook and I know I will get some homemade cooking out of the deal!  And it will nice to just get away for a little while even though I will probably stress about school stuff the entire time!

Also the hubby and I are looking at doing some time of getaway in March (looking at a long weekend).  We were thinking about New York or maybe somewhere in the Caolinas.  We have been doing some research but have not made a final decision.  So I ask you all...do you have any suggestions?  I would really appreciate some help in this area!

Favorite Things

So recently I have seen several people write posts on their favorite things, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite things:

Bandolino Shoes
I own several pair and they are SO comfortable and cute (both flats and heels)

Carmel apples
My favorite things about fairs.  I normally prefer the plain ones but sometimes walking on the wild side and adding something a little extra isn't so bad.

Sweet Tea
Best thing in the world!  I have cut back in the last few months but there is nothing better than a cup of sweet tea!

Sweatpants
I live in sweatpants when I am home!  The older and softer the better.

Pampered Chef
I LOVE Pampered Chef utensils.  I could not live without my spatula.  Best invention ever!  The micro cooker is also awesome and one of the most used items in my kitchen.

Class

So this semester I have class 2 times a week. My one classn might be a little boring but for the most part the material is interesting and I like the professor. My second class of the week is the total opposite. He is HORRIBLE! He is so full of himself. He repeats over and over that we are graduate level students so we are going to have essay tests and this isn't going to be like our other classes. Well I hate to tell you buddy but 75% of my classes have also been essay so don't think you are high and mighty thinking you are the only one "challenging" us.

Speaking of challenging. He says his tests are hard and whatnot. Well they are out of our book and he gives us a study guide with 35 questions. He is letting us use our books and only giving us 3 questions (out of 35 on the study guide) on the test. I'm no genius but I think I can handle it and maybe I am putting my foot in my mouth but I don't call that a huge challenge.

And today in class he spent 40 minutes yacking talking about our upcoming exam and reading out loud the possible test questions. He didn't instruct on them, he literally read them to the class. Ummm...last time I checked I can read.

The best part about this professor is he makes a TON of money! Since my university is a state university we can look online to see their annual income.  That just even makes me madder!

Just another Tuesday....

So I am off work today…YAY! However, I have to give a presentation this evening for one of my classes…BOO! So basically I have been putting off practicing all day! I don’t mind presentations too much if I like the topic and am knowledgeable on it. However, this presentation is on a briefing and analysis of an article I was assigned. And the professor is known to drill you with questions at the end. I am really nervous about that part. I read the article like 4 times but am still confused on what it says. I just hope he is a little easy on me. So needless to say I will be happy when it is over!

We had a wonderful weekend. On Friday I went out with a group of friends for one of my friend’s birthday. It was a lot of fun but the service was horrible. Needless to say from the time we walked into the restaurant to the time we left it was almost 3 hours! On Saturday I got up bright and early and went to Boot Camp at the place I work out. All I have to say is WOW! I thought I was kind of in shape; well needless to say I got a reality check. It kicked my butt but I felt great afterwards.

One of my really good friends and her husband came to stay with us for a few nights. One night we went out to dinner and then came home and talked to about 2:30 in the morning! I am not use to the long nights but it was great to catch up and tell funny stories. On Sunday they visited a few other people in town and then I made dinner and we went bowling. I am the worst bowler EVER but it still was fun!

We didn’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day but I did get the husband a card and a gym bag because he really needed one. It was nice to spend the day with friends and not fight crowds going to a restaurant!

The best thing is that I am off tomorrow and I don’t have to worry about school work! I think I may treat myself to lunch at Panera while I am out doing a few errands.

Well I think the procrastination must come to an end and I MUST start looking at what I am going to say during my presentation!

Love Swap

Katie at Loves of Life hosted a Simply Love Swap.  This is the first swap I participated in and I thought it was a lot of fun to do some shopping for someone I didn't know and then wait for the mail to come so I could open my box of goodies.  I was lucky enough to have Shelby from Boys Will Be Boys as my swap partner.

She did an awesome job of shopping for me and I got so many sweet things!

I got a Mary Kay satin hands set, heart candles, nail polish, cute nail accessories, Valentine paper pad, a cute tin and candy (there may or may not have been 2 boxes of each kind and I may or may not have eaten part of each box within minutes of their arrival)!  So many sweet things!  Thank you so much Shelby!!

This was a lot of fun!  I love getting fun stuff in the mail and meeting new bloggers!

If you are visiting from Katie's site...Thanks for stopping by!  Leave a comment if you would, I would love to hear from you!

Snow Day

I love snow days!!  My office closed today which surprised me because we didn't get too much snow and my husband said the roads where actually worse yesterday (when I had to go to work) than they were this morning.  But whatever....I'll take it!  But now that I am home I have lots to do including doing dishes, straightening the house, laundry and working on an assignment for school.  Lots to do so I better get on it!

Hope everyone has a good hump day!

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Well Super Bowl Sunday is here!  We are actually staying home tonight.  I'll be honest, I really don't care who wins this year.  But, I am looking forward to the commercials.  My favorites are usually the Pepsi and Budweiser ones.  I am sure I will have a future post on my opinion of some of the best commercials.

So who do you want to win-The Colts or Saints?

Enjoy the game!

Random Post

WARNING-This post is completely my random thoughts!

Friday is in sight and oh that makes me SO happy! Not much has been going on here. Just the normal working and attending class. I did have a day off this week and I was pretty productive. I did some cleaning and so many loads of laundry that I lost count. I would love to know how 2 people can dirty so many clothes! I blame it on my husband who seems to dirty three times as many as I do! It is a never ending cycle.

I have many friends that are pregnant right now which is so exciting! I think I am in that stage of life where many of my friends have gotten married and now they are having little ones! I enjoy hearing their stories and can't wait to see their precious little ones! One of my very dear friends is expecting TWINS!! That is just so cool! But all this baby talk makes me excited to have one of my own one day!

My husband is an accountant so he is working a lot right now. While he isn't a public accountant (he works for a privately owned business) this is still this busy season with closing the fiscal year. I can't wait until he can actually sleep in on a Saturday morning with me instead of leaving for work before dawn.

The husband and I have been talking about tackling several home projects. I just can't make up my mind what I want. We are looking at doing some tiling and bathroom remodeling. But I am being so indecisive. Both are pretty permanent and kind of expensive changes so I want to get what I LOVE but I just can't find what I love. Have you ever been there?

We are on weekend number 3 without traveling! So exciting. We don't really have plans. We might go to the movies with friends. My friend and I want to see "Dear John" and thought the boys (her husband and mine) could go see a more manly movie. Besides that we don't have plans. But next weekend one of my good friends (with her husband) is coming to visit! It will be great to hang out and send some time with them. They live about 7 or so hours away so we only see them about twice a year. But the other good news is that her husband just got offered another job so they are moving closer and will only be about 3 hours away!

My weight loss is trucking on. I lost another 2 pounds or so. I have officially grown out of some of my pants
(meaning they are way too baggy on me). But the main thing is that I feel a lot better. In the past I have struggled with back pain and headaches and both have pretty much ceased since I started working out and working towards losing a few pounds.

Have you watched the Bachelor this season? I think my favorite is Tenley. I was rooting for Ali but have changed my mind over the last two episodes. I think Tenley is the most "real:" girl and I think she is truly there for the right reasons.

Well I think I am out of random thoughts for now. Until next time....

Simple Pleasures

Kelly at Kelly's Korner recently did a post on the simple pleasures of life.  It got me thinking of the things in life I consider as my simple pleasures.  Since I like lists, here are a few things I think are grand:
  • My AWESOME husband!!!
  • To curl up under fresh clean sheets (love the smell!)
  • Sweet tea
  • Lazy weekends
  • Time to sit and read a book just for pleasure
  • Lazy Sunday mornings
  • Cracker Barrel (love hash brown casserole)
  • Apple pie (especially warm with vanilla ice cream)
  • Lifetime movies
  • "Dates" with friends
  • Husband cooking dinner
  • Clean house
  • Naps (dosen't happen often but when they do they are just grand)
  • Catching up with friends I don't get to see or talk to often
  • Black Raspberry ice cream from Austin's (local homemade ice cream shop)
  • Evaroni's Pizza (local pizza joint and the best)
  • Baggy sweats
  • A good smelling candle burning
What are your simple pleasures?
