Fall is right around the corner!

Fall is almost here! Fall is my favorite season for many reasons including
  • Football-Not necessarily the watching of it, I more like the socialization part
  • Decorations-Fall decorations are my favorite, especially pumpkins
  • The weather-Sweatshirts, sweaters and all the good clothing
  • Bombfires
  • Apple Cider
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Good TV shows coming back

What is your favorite season or time of the year?

Past Week

This past week has been a busy one. I started back to school this week. I am currently working on getting my MBA. I decided to take it easy and only take one class. I am glad I did because I think that one class is going to be a killer! Work is also been busy. I am in an internal program for my work for the month of August so I have been busy trying to get all my projects finalized plus keep up with my other workload. On Tuesday my husband's uncle passed away so we had to travel out of town and attend his funeral on Friday. We decided to stay and visit my in-laws for the rest of the weekend since we won't probably see them again for awhile. Tomorrow we will be heading home and I have a to do list waiting on me so I am sure I will be staying busy!

The Mr. and I are currently thinking about undertaking a semi-major project to our back yard. This project will consist of about 30 tandem loads of dirt, a bulldozer and bobcat. The positive is that it will make our back yard a ton bigger. The negative is that it will make a big mess in the back yard and front yard. We will end up having to reseed most of the front yard and a lot of the back yard. It might look bad for awhile but in the end I think it will be worth it.

Today I have shopped online at Lakeside Collection. Have you ever bought anything off there? I highly recommend it! They have lots of good stuff and usually pretty cheap. I usually make a purchase a few times a year especially to buy holiday decorations.

This evening my husband and I are going to dinner with my in-laws to a place called Food and Friends. They have awesome food so I am excited!

Hope everyone has a great of weekend!

Dairy Queen

Tonight my husband and I went to Dairy Queen to get some ice cream after dinner with some friends. They were having a special for 50% off for Marshall students since it was the first week back. All 4 of us got different things. One of my favorite things at Dairy Queen is a banana split blizzard so of course that is what I got. However, mine didn't taste right. After a couple of bites I decided it was probably the worst I have ever had. When I said something everyone else also thought theirs tasted weird. So in the end we believe the ice cream was bad and in the trash everything went. Who would expect to go to Dairy Queen and the ice cream be bad?

10 Things About the New Girl

I was thinking that since I am new at blogging I would tell you a few more things about me. So we will call this the "10 Things About the New Girl". So lets begin:

  1. I am a Marshall University Alum. I received my bachelor's degree in marketing with a minor in economics and management in the spring of 2007. In the spring of 2008 I began working on my MBA at Marshall. I have 3 classes left before I can retire my notebooks and school bag!
  2. I love to travel. I grew up with parents that like to travel so I have gotten to do a fair amount but would love to travel more. I have been to every state on the east coast of the US. I have also gotten to travel some in in the central part and on the west coast. I have been on 2 Caribbean Cruise (soon to be 3), Germany, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand and Fiji. Some places on my list to still travel to are England, Hawaii, Alaska, Paris and Canada.
  3. I love to read. When I get started in a book I have a problem about putting it down and can finish a book cover to cover in no time. However, I have to limit my reading a little because my husband can get neglected and so can the laundry.
  4. I have sky dived and I highly recommend it! It is a blast. I was in New Zealand for 4 months as an abroad student during college. When I first got there my friend and I decided that we were going to make the jump. A few weeks before we left we did it! We jumped tandem from 12,000 feet in the air. When you first jump you are falling about 100 mph. If I ever have the chance to do it again I am sure I will, the rush is unreal!
  5. I am a homeowner. My husband and I bought a house in April of 2008. We have spent the last year painting, changing the trim, demoing one of the full bathrooms, replacing appliances, buying furniture, decorating and tons of other stuff. It is a lot of work but it is fun to see the change. We brought a house with great "bones" and just brought it up to date. Some time I will post before and after pictures.
  6. I make messes in kitchens! I like to cook and bake when the mood strikes but I usually can't get out of the kitchen without making a huge mess. One time when I was in college I actually managed to set brownies on fire in the oven. This resulted in flames, a fire alarm and a six floor building being evacuated.
  7. I have several fears. The top of my list includes mice, snakes and needles. I can handle spiders and bugs (not my favorite but I can handle them) but I hate mice and snakes. My dad knows how I can can not stand mice and one time he caught one in a trap and decided to put it on the door step and knock on the door so I can find my little present. Got to love parents and their idea of fun! I use to not mind needles but it only took once for a nurse to have trouble finding a vein for my to absolutely hate them!
  8. I am addicted to DVR! I don't think I would watch TV without it. One, I would miss all the shows I like because we are on the go more then we are home and two, it is so much faster. Some shows that are currently on my series recording are Days of Our Lives (been watching the soap opera since I was young with my mom), America's Got Talent and Cake Boss. When they are on I also like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Bachelor/Bachelorette and Grey's Anatomy.
  9. I am not a morning person. I usually hit the snooze twice and don't get out of bed until the last morning. And don't talk to me for awhile because I am not usually at my best. I don't do coffee so sometimes I allow myself a sweet tea to help me wake up.
  10. I love weddings! My dream job would be in the wedding planning business. I love everything from the colors to the favors. Even though I sometimes was a little stressed out I would do it all over again (every year if I could). I don't regret anything about my wedding day except that it was over too quick.

Well hope you learned a little something! Leave me a comment because I would love to hear from you.
